Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!!

My son collaged this turkey during his after school art class taught by my lovely wife (BlueLucyStudios.com). His legs were actually longer, but it wouldn't fit in the scanner.

I just realized I'd never drawn a fish. I tried to find a photo of an interesting creature in its natural environment. I think I did this dude a favor...he was much uglier in the picture.

Artists to watch for...

I just wanted to take this opportunity to draw attention to an incredible artist, locowhiteboy. I've been following his drawings on flickr for quite a while now and he has finally started a blog. So go check him out.

Also, unless you've been hiding under a rock lately, you've probably heard about Gabi's new project Urban Sketchers. Trying to describe the talented people contributing would not do it justice. If you haven't already, go check it out. That is where I discovered the work of Tin Salamunic. His work is incredible. His drawings appear simple and consist mostly of contour drawings with with maybe one or two colors. Amazing stuff really.

Lastly, Dan Price is currently in the midst of a trike tour around the Hawaiian islands. Check out his progress as he documents his travels at moonlightchroniclesblog.blogspot.com. See his photos at flickr or get updates on facebook. Become a fan while you're there.

I took a picture of this car on a site several years ago and decided tonight was the night to finally draw it. I distorted it a bit . Pigma micron and warm gray Pitt marker.

bocedwards

bocedwards, originally uploaded by Rymann.

I've wanted to draw this for the last couple years. Its right next to a job site I worked on two years ago. I recently started working on a site next door, so I finally took the opportunity to draw it.

It is a huge tank of some sort. Two cannon looking things are mounted on top. They remind me of those telescope things at the beach you pay a quarter to use. The staircase winds around probably half the perimeter down to a landing.

Here are a couple other recent sketches.
